Point Management

Point management is a foundation part of the MySquash application. All other parts such as competitions and ranking rely on it to deliver reliable information to player and competition organizers.

Calculation Cadence

There are 2 periods when points are calculated:

  • On a nightly basis, user points are calculated to take into account events from the day (matches, point adjustments…). So if a player plays a match on Friday, the points acquired or lost will be taken into account the day after.

  • On a weekly basis, the ranking is generated. The ranking generation will recalculate user points from the starting points and taking into account all events occured in player history. This is to ensure that ranking is correct and reliable.

It is thus normal, that players might oberve difference between the points in their profile and points in the ranking (as ranking is a baseline at a given point of time). Alignment will happen anyway on a weekly basis.

New player (with no activity yet)

When creating a new player, (s)he has no point and no activity (matches, adjustments…). It is thus possible to setup it "Starting points" on user profile:

By default, player has no "Starting point" and until player gets activity, "Starting point" can be updated.

This capability of setting "Starting point" is open to:

  • System administrator
  • Club manager of player's club
  • Club president of player's club
  • Club Co-president of player's club
  • Club vice-president of player's club

A notification is sent by email to the system administrator and members having "All" notifications activated:

Existing player (with activities)

Once a player has activities (matches, adjustments…) it is no more possible to change the « Starting points » in the user profile.

The only way is to create an adjustment using http://my.squash.ch/result

Going to results, you will be able to see all results from all players:

Of course none of them are editable. However, 2 types can be created:

  • Adjustment is to be used at any time during player lifecycle to adjust points (adjustement of starting points, adjustment after a period without playing…)
  • Penalty is to be used following a disciplinary decision

Create adjustment or penalty

In both case, information requested is:

Adjustment form

  • Player concerned
  • Number of points to add or remove
  • The date the adjustment/penalty is to be considered in player history
  • A short label provinding the rational for adjustment/penalty

Please create adjustment/penalty with care as once created, for ranking and point calcultation reliability, it cannot be deleted and i twill appear in player history. In case of mistake, either create a new adjustement to compensate or contact the system administrator.

In user profile, any event (match, adjustment, penalty...) will appear in grey until they are taken into account in the weekly ranking generation:
