Configuring a mini-league¶
This page describes how to create and configure a mini-league. For an introduction to the concepts (sessions, divisions, pools, redistribution), see Mini-leagues: concepts.
Creating a mini-league¶
To create a mini-league, go to Mini-leagues then click Create.
The creation form includes:
- Name of the mini-league (e.g.: "Tuesday League")
- Structure: divisions and pools (see below)
- Session parameters: periodicity, scoring system, point scale (see session parameters)
Structure: divisions and pools¶
The structure of a mini-league is organized into divisions and pools.
Divisions¶
Divisions represent skill levels. They are ordered from the strongest (Division 1) to the weakest.
Each division is configurable:
- Name of the division
- Order: modifiable by drag and drop
Pools¶
Each division contains one or more pools. A pool is a group of players who compete in round-robin format.
Each pool is configurable:
| Parameter | Description | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Pool name (e.g.: "Pool A") | — |
| Promotions | Number of players promoted to the higher division at the end of a session | 0 to 3 |
| Relegations | Number of players relegated to the lower division at the end of a session | 0 to 3 |
Note
Promotions are not available for the highest division (no higher division). Relegations are not available for the lowest division.
Player management¶
Adding players¶
Players are assigned to pools when creating or editing the mini-league, via drag and drop. It is possible to search for players in any club, not only the organizing club.
Each added player is registered with their ranking points at the time of enrollment, which serve as a reference for the initial ranking.
Participation request¶
Players can also request to join an existing mini-league. The manager receives a notification and can accept the request by assigning the player to a pool.
Player withdrawal¶
A player can leave the mini-league during a session (dropout). In this case:
- Their scores remain visible but are excluded from the ranking
- Their treatment at the end of the session depends on the Leavers as relegable parameter
The manager can also reinstate a withdrawn player.
Scores and matches¶
Entering scores¶
Within a pool, each player must face all others. Scores can be entered:
- By the players themselves
- By the mini-league manager
Entry includes:
- The final score (e.g.: 3-2)
- Game-by-game results (e.g.: 11-9, 11-8, 9-11, 11-7)
- Any forfeit indication
Score validation¶
When a player enters a score, the opponent receives a notification to validate or contest it.
- Validation period: number of days the opponent has to respond (configurable, see parameters)
- Action on expiry: if the opponent does not respond within the period, the score is automatically validated or rejected depending on the configuration
Invitation to play¶
A player can send an email invitation to the other players in their pool to arrange a match.
Session parameters¶
Each mini-league has its own parameters (periodicity, scoring system, point scale, etc.). During creation, these parameters are pre-filled with the club's default values.
For a detailed description of each parameter, see the Default session parameters section of the club parameters page.
